Conservation : Traces anciennes de nettoyage dans le champ sinon Superbe. Très rare.
La médaille a été frappée à l'occasion de la participation du pape à résoudre à l'amiable le conflit entre l'Allemagne et l'Espagne sur les îles Carolines. La médiation du Pape a peut-être évite un conflit; les îles ont ensuite été vendus à l'Allemagne, en 1899.
